Employment law can be complex, and it can be very damaging to your company if you do not comply especially in cases of redundancy. BRR's expertise at dealing with employment issues can help to protect both businesses and employees.

As an employer

BRR can help you draw up contracts of employment with specific reference to your business, or can give your present employment contracts a 'health check' to see if they comply with the latest legislation.

In times of economic downturn companies often need to find ways of reducing their wage bills and BRR can advise on all aspects, be it full redundancy, laying off staff temporarily or moving people to working part time. Taking advice here is especially cost-effective as facing disputes for getting it wrong can be very costly.

BRR can advise on and prepare COMPROMISE AGREEMENTS which allow the employment to end with no comeback against the employer, even if the circumstances leading to the termination are not clear cut.

Moving people to part time work can also lay an employer open for litigation, so once again it is well worth checking first. We operate a fixed fee for initial consultations, click on the tab above for details of charges.

To dismiss an employee under current Employment Laws has to be done strictly by the book, otherwise you might find yourself having to defend your actions in an Employment Tribunal/Court. Even if you have a good reason to terminate an employee's contract of employment, doing it in the wrong way can lead to a claim succeeding against you. Before having that 'talk' with your employee, talk to BRR and we can make sure that you are complying with every rule and regulation. You might find that it is one of the most valuable moves you could make.

Should you be considering the purchase of a business or contemplating selling your business there are rules governing the transfer of staff to the new business so please contact us for advice as the implications could have a very direct impact on the success or failure of the venture.

As an employee

Although most employers will be well versed in employment law or will have checked out their legal position first with their, there will also be those who don't know the current legislation or where their employees feel they have unreasonably been dismissed, made redundant or suffered discrimination of some sort, be it race or inequality of pay.

BRR can provice advice as well as representation at Employment Tribunals involving redundancy and unfair dismissal. Often employees are asked to sign a COMPROMISE AGREEMENT and we can advise on the implications usually within the fees payable by the employer.

Sometimes companies are sold without the knowledge of the employee and the first thing employees know is that the deal has been done. If the company where you work is being or has just been sold we can advise you on your rights as an employee.
