Services > Powers of attorney
In dealing with the personal affairs of clients it is appropriate to mention Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection Orders. These are normally granted to enable relatives, friends or professional advisers to administer the affairs of elderly or infirm persons who, for whatever reason, are unwilling or unable to manage their own affairs.
Since October 2007, Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPA) have been replaced with Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) relating to financial matters and/or personal welfare. These can be prepared and registered with the Court of Protection when required. We will make home and hospital visits where required and at short notice if necessary.
Enduring Powers of Attorney made before October 2007 are still valid and we can, if instructed by the attorney(s), register these with the Court of Protection when the person who made the EPA (the donor) becomes mentally incapable of managing his or her affairs
