Alan attended Spilsby Grammar School Lincolnshire and studied law in Bristol gaining an LLB degree in 1973. He qualified in 1976 having undertaken Articles at Alletson & Partners in Weston super Mare from 1973 - 1976.

In 1976 Alan joined Lewis Williams & Co Solicitors opening a branch office in Worle and specialising in all aspects of Civil Litigation including matrimonial disputes and criminal law.

Subsequently Alan has concentrated on Domestic and Commercial Property Matters, an area in which he specialises.

Alan is a keen sailor and likes to head off to Burnham on Sea for a sail after work but if not there, he enjoys strolling over Exmoor or Dartmoor and occasionally to more far flung regions such as the Pyrenees.

Alan retired as a partner and became a consultant on 30th April 2009.
