Coming originally from Street, Somerset, Roger obtained a law degree from University College, London in 1972 and qualified as a Solicitor in 1975. He joined this practice (then Gardner and Berry) in January 1977, becoming a partner in 1982 and subsequently ran branch offices in Axbridge and later Cheddar with wide experience of property, civil and criminal litigation work before becoming Branch Partner at the Winscombe office in 1994. He is now very experienced in residential conveyancing in particular (he has been here so long he often these days acts for children and other relatives of earlier clients), some commercial conveyancing, Wills and Probate. Roger took over as Managing Partner in May 2010.

He has lived with his wife Jane (a piano teacher) and family in the Cheddar Valley for over 30 years, has been a member of the Rotary Club of Mendip for 15 years and his interests include English history, cricket and classical music.
